This is a great idea. But a person hired for a position should be qualified for that position and teachable. I've called and visited different agencies in our town i.e. City Hall (to name one), on several different occausions and speaking to the person that I've come in contact with was sometime a difficult task. Anyhow I like your ideas feel your compassion. Keep up the good work

I think this is a good idea. My concern with the current process is that we do not actively seek highly qualified applicants for key positions in our city. The Personnel Department should have a division that focuses on recruitment. The position of Personnel Director should be someone that is familar with our city and has superior communication skills. The key would be the administration working with the City Council to seek superior leadership for OUR city! The talent is here!

H.O.P.E. IS HERE!!!!

Excellent idea Councilman however often times job postings are required to give priority to internal applicants for a certain period of time prior to opening to external applicants. All in the interest of promoting within. The job announcements can be listed as internal or external depending on the status. Simultaneously we should make hard copies available at a central location & email blast.

Wonderful idea. I do not think that posting it in newspapers will be beneficial. We are trying to post these jobs for people of Paterson, NJ to find jobs. Not for everyone else who does not live here in our great city of Paterson, NJ. Great Idea Julio. Keep up the great work.

This will not replace any of the existing methods that the City utilizes to disseminate information about jobs. This will be in addition to what we already have.

Yes not everyone has internet, but many Patersonians do have internet. I believe that publishing these jobs on our website will provide a centralize location where our constituents can go to find information.

Of course other people will be will be able to view and apply for these jobs, but at least now Patersonians will have the ability to ALSO know about them.

Dear Julio,

This is a start, but it will not discourage those outside our city from accessing the Internet and viewing such openings. We need to work on making sure that residents are given priority when it comes to interviewing them. I'm not saying to hire unqualified individuals on the basis of residency, just take a look at them first. I believe that we do have a workforce with the qualifications necessary to fill any city vacancy. Keep up the good work.
