by Administrator ~ November 10th, 2008
Paterson, NJ – Councilman at Large Rigo Rodriguez and 5th Ward Councilman Julio Tavarez collaboratively held a meeting at City Hall on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the City Council Chambers to discuss proposed
changes to Chapter 291, entitled “Junkyards” in the code of the City of Paterson. The amendment would require the business owners to place a “hold” on certain metals that are purchased from individuals and that those individuals provide legitimate forms of ID when conducting business.
“The concept of this meeting is to assure that we hear from the owners of the junkyards because they are the ones that are going affected the most by this amendment .” Stated Councilman Rodriguez. “I think we were successful at listening to what the owners of the various establishments had to say and we will take their comments into account while we continue to mold this ordinance.” added Councilman Julio Tavarez who is working cooperatively with Councilman Rodriguez to assure that the ordinance is the product not only of the council, but business owners as well.
